Yes, yes, and so it goes another year is gone. With the majority of this year being spent in Shanghai I feel like it would be an understatement to say it was different than most. I now have three places I call home, and hope to grow that number in the new year. The people I have met in this past year have influenced me in a big way and I hope to always keep them close no matter where I am on the globe. With the new year I hope comes new experiences that will compare to the previous... friends, locations, parties, projects, reunions and all the other things that make this life worthwhile. I wish you all the same.

Li and Reggie just called me from Shanghai to wish me a Merry Christmas. They are standing outside LOgO drinking egg nog and hanging out with all out friends. It was good to hear their voices and right now all I want for Christmas is a time warp machine so I can spend Christmas with all my friends wherever they may be. |

Took a moment to smell the flowers.
Tomorrow I will purchase an open-ended ticket to Shanghia, China. This will be my 4th trip to China, and I am really looking forward to it. It really feels like a second home to me now. I have so many friends that I am excited to see again. We are going to look for a new apartment when I get there, seeing as the one we have now isn't quite big enough. I am excited to see what we can find. I am not sure how long I will stay this time, I am thinking about 6 months, but we'll see.
Last weekend the crew flew up to Idaho to a little resort outside of Boise for Shane's wedding. Jason rented a very nice resort home that became the party house for all, and certainly lived up to its name! It was really great to see everyone, and it was sad when it came time to leave. I am lucky to have such a close group of good friends that I know I can always rely on.

Being back in Salt Lake has been kind of strange. If there were a theme to discribe the past 4 months it would have to be "Mixed Emotions". Excitement, Sadness, Nervousness, Fun, Boredom, Confusion, Happiness, Disappointment, intrigue and the last (and most felt) overwhelmed. To catch you up to speed I had to take an abrupt flight back to the States because of a huge internet problem which made it unable for me to work for my clients in the US. I am not sure how long I will be back, but to be quite honest, things have been quite strange since being here. When I moved away, my room at Greg's house was rented out, so now I am staying here on a mattress on the floor. I would get a place of my own, but chances are I will be returning to Shanghai within a couple months. So I am left in limbo, without a place of my own to escape, and reset myself for even just a couple hours. I think it has slowly built up, and I feel like I need a break, or perhaps a Valium.
On a lighter note, it seems as though I will be joining the ranks of SOS Productions to do some design and DJing with them. I will be DJing Wednesdays and the W Lounge, and will most likely be opening for Chromeo next month at their Masquerade party. I am hoping this will help me through the more unexciting times here in SLC. Maybe meet some cool peeps and play some good music for people who like to dance :)
Oh ya, hopefully going to Magic/Pool/United fashion tradeshows in LV next week! Niiiice!

KP'S BEST OF 2006
2006 is gone, and with taking the first step into my "upper 20's", changes at work and moving to a different continent it was a crazy year. I grew a lot. Like I said about 2005 when it was over, I can also look back at 2006 and be proud of the accomplishments I have made, and the experiences I have had. If I can continue the life I have lived until now, I will be a happy. And so with that said I welcome 2007 with open arms, and wait with excitement to see what it brings. | Hard not to second guess... |

So it's been a week now since I have been here in Shanghai, I must say every single day is an experience in it's own. Not only because it's a place so different from home, but simply because I have been removed from my everyday life and routine, and it's forcing me to do things outside my comfort zone. I think it's good for me to do that once in awhile, to step outside what I know. And of course along with this comes consequences, both good and bad. After the weekend of my arrival, after the partying and fun, I had a day of realization, realizing my decision. I had up and moved around the world, away from my best of friends, and everything I know. I freaked out. Before coming I knew I would have second thoughts about why I came here, but I wasn't prepared for it. It's normal I know, anytime you move far from home you are going to be sad, I just have to stay focused on the good consequences of my decision.
Since the "day of realization" I have been feeling a lot better. I got a part time job with a group that runs a large nightlife and urban webzine here called Smart Shanghai, so I am looking forward to starting that. Hopefully meet some cool peeps. Li is very rarely around the apartment, and will be here even less when she travels for work. It makes for a lonely home. |

In 23 days I will no longer be living here. Very mixed emotions, sad to leave my friends and home, but excited for new things. It came up so fast, I am so excited though. Li called last night and said that she had found a place for us to live, it sounds like it could be really cool. Regardless I know living with her is going to be a blast. I am trying to get everything figured out for the move, visa, storage for my stuff, flight, work, etc. I will be buying my plane ticket this week which kind of finalizes everything, makes me a little nervous/excited.
China here I come. |
